Does the app cost anything?
No, Music Tools Duo is free.
Why does the app need the microphone?
The microphone is needed for the tuner: you play a note, the app detects its pitch and shows the deviation in cents. The metronome and the exercises work without the microphone. The audio signal is analysed on the device only and is neither stored nor transmitted.
Which instruments can the tuner handle?
There are presets for guitar, bass, ukulele, violin and cello. Chromatic mode lets you tune any other instrument, and concert pitch A is adjustable.
How difficult are the exercises?
Each of the 13 modules comes in three levels: Easy, Medium and All. Questions are generated fresh every time, so nothing can simply be memorised.
Is the app suitable for lessons?
Yes. Metronome and tuner are instantly at hand in lessons, and the exercises cover core topics such as intervals, chords, reading music and the circle of fifths.
